    Great robot project!

My 9 yo daughter loved this project. She spent hours tinkering around with the robot. When the robot went backward at first she was delighted that she figured out she had wired it incorrectly. Correcting it was half the fun for her. This is a great crate!

My child could have made this robot in 30 minutes and enjoys playing with it alot.

The instructions are very easy to follow. It is absolutely fun making and playing with robot.

    Favorite kit of 3

My nephews (7 and 8 years old) had a grand time putting them together and playing with them. We did have a few small issues with one of them - but nothing we could not sort out on our own. We highly recommend this kit!

    Age appropriate

I thought the instructions were very easy to follow and my son was able to do it all by himself!

    Challenging but fun

My son found the walking robot a exciting but somewhat challenging, but was able to complete it by working through the very detailed instructions that were included. It definitely kickstarted his problem solving skills.

    Sparks his mind

We have recieved many Tinker crates before, but this one was definitely our favorite. My son is obsessed with electrical engineering now.

    Fun for Ten year old

Our ten year old daughter enjoyed putting the robot together. She did need some help mostly because some of the instructions weren't clear. For example it doesn't say which way the battery pack faces when you stick it to the robot. After some thought we decided the switch facing us was correct.

Also her robot went backwards even though she again followed the instructions to match up the colored wired on battery with the same colored wire from motor. She simply switched it to the colors not matching to make it go forward.

Overall she enjoyed working with electronics, as well as learning little more about robotics in the tinkerzine.

    Grandson Loved It

I gave it to my grandson for Christmas last year when he was ten and to my surprise he brought it over yesterday, almost one year later and he was still playing with it. Although he said it was quick to build he obviously is still enjoying it. I just bought him the Mechanical Bird, hopefully he likes it as well.

    So much learning!

Tinker Crate has been such an amazing experience for my kids. When we got this box, I knew it was going to be a hit. I could see the gears in my son's head turning as he was creating the robot. What kid doesn't want a robot?

    Favorite Crate!

My 10-year-old daughter has repeatedly said that this is the best crate of all of the ones she has built.

    Love it!

My son and I had so much fun putting it together. He was so proud that you put “wires” together and actually made it work :)

    Such a great project

This project was so fun! My daughter was able to build it all by herself. Her favorite part though would have to be seeing her completed robot walking around!

    Loved it!

I think this Walking Robot crate was excellent. He reads the tinkerzine from cover to cover as well! WE have recommended your company and products to so many people. I especially like how everything in the box is useful and how the box has even been part of the project

    Building robots and confidence

The mechanisms used were a great introduction to different mechanical conepts for my daughter. After building the robot, she was having grown up conversations about drive shafts. I also loved the confidence she got from building it and her ability to fix it when something went wrong. "Well, I mean, I built it, so I know how it works. Of course I can fix it."

    Robot play

I loved the process and the outcome. It's challenging yet intuitive so my son could do the project by himself. He was so proud of his accomplishment! It was super fun to build and we were able to use the robot in other forms of play.

    Think outside the box

The instructions were easy to follow and my son relished making his own walking robot, which he still plays with! It had a great combination of mechanics and electronics, and it all worked great together. It engaged my child completely and made him think outside the box.

    BEST of the best!

I have purchased DOZENS of crates from the store to keep 10 grandchildren happy. Most have been a huge success. This one is the BEST! My pair of 10 year old twin grandsons got right to work on their own robot. No help needed from mom or dad - they're seasoned assemblers, excellent instruction, illustrations, and You Tube videos guide them through. My daughter sent me pictures and videos of the process from initial delight to completed robots on the march side by side. The most heartwarming moments were brothers helping each other when one robot initially wasn't interested in going anywhere and the other only wanted to go backwards! The boys troubleshooted for each other and resolved those minor issues. As a grandma, I LOVE presenting Tinker crates - educational fun in boxes that always elicit a "TINKER CRATE!!!" response! And THANK YOU for outstanding customer service as occasionally needed!

Really good Tinkerzine edition and son enjoyed building the robot.

The Tinkerzine edition was really good, and that the inclusion of Asimov's laws was a great way to connect to scifi literature and questions facing a future with autonomous robots. The descriptions of robots in use in both spectacular, like rovers, and mundane uses like baristas or hotel staff, gave kids a lot to grab on to when thinking about robotics. Our 11 year old son was vey happy building the robot itself.

    Challenging by rewarding crate.

What I like about it, and all of your crates, is that they are challenging, but my eleven year old can still do them on her own. They are building her confidence, helping her focus on attention to detail, and giving her a sense of accomplishment. Thank you for what you do.

Daughter and husband loved building the robot together!

My daughter (and husband) built this and she was so proud of it. She took it to school to show everyone what she built. I love how confident she is becoming because of these crates!
